Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas. We pray that your family has a wonderful Christmas celebrating the birth of our Savior. Happy Birthday Jesus! Matthew 1:21 "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."

Just a reminder that...
* Tuesday youth groups will not meet on December 24th or January 31st. We will resume on January 7th.
* Wednesday Bible studies will resume the following week, on January 15th.

While there is no youth group this week, there are 3 Protestant Christmas Eve worship services that you are invited to participate in:
** Liturgical family candle light service with communion - 1800 @ South Chapel
** Contemporary/Traditional combined service - 1900 @ North Chapel
** Liturgical candle light service with communion - 2200 @ South Chapel

There is also a New Years Eve worship service the following week:
** Gospel service New Year's Eve Watch Night Service - 2230 @ Vogelweh Chapel

We're praying for rest and sweet family time in the coming days/weeks for you. For those with a deployed family member, we pray for safety and peace during this time of separation.

We're so grateful for your involvement in PYOC and we count it a great joy to walk alongside your student(s) and encourage them in their relationships with Jesus.

See you next year!

All parents (or in the case of deployments/work schedules, a close family friend) are invited to come and participate at Vision/Salvage. Come and see what we do each week!

One of our youth group goals is to strengthen families, and this is an opportunity for a fun shared experience with your student.

Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday!

Equip 2013

Hello Vision Families,

Equip 2013 is November 8-9. This is a 2 day retreat for students desiring to grow in their relationship with Jesus and gain confidence in sharing their faith and ministering to their peers.

This event is free and will take place at the Pulaski Youth Chapel on Pulaski Barracks (it's the chapel you see at the base of the hill, as you get ready to enter the Pulaski Gate... follow the little brown signs that say Pulaski Religious Youth Center).

We will join with other chapel youth groups from Baumholder, Kaiserslautern and Wiesbaden.

We will start at 7pm on Friday and end at 7pm on Saturday. Students should eat dinner before arriving. Snacks and Saturday meals will be provided.

To sign up, register online at https://novequip2013.eventbrite.com by November 1st.

Students can pick up a flyer at Vision.

A similar retreat (SEMP) will be offered for high school students in January.

Hungary Donation Drive

Hello PYOC Families,

For the past 3 summers our ministry has partnered with GoodSports International in Hungary by assisting with English and sports camps for kids in the small community of Mikepercs. In addition to these summer camps, GoodSports is also connected with a number of orphanages throughout Hungary. Each summer, we've collected a variety of donations for these orphanages and have delivered the donations during our mission trips.

This Christmas, GoodSports is providing Christmas programs for 3 Hungarian orphanages - over 270 children. They've asked us for help in providing Christmas gifts for these children.

They are specifically in need of the following items:
- Soccer Balls
- A variety of gifts for girls (ages 7-20, ideas: nail polish w/ polish remover, hair stuff, craft kits, jewelry making supplies- beads and cords, stuffed animals, etc.)
- Toiletries (toothbrushes/paste, soaps, deodorants, shampoos - orphans have to buy these things on their own; many can't afford them and go without)
- Candy (they love American candies! Each child will hopefully receive a goodie bag with candies... clearance Halloween candy would be greatly appreciated!)

Students can bring donations to youth group and/or Bible studies over the next 3 weeks.  Or, you can drop them by our PYOC office in the North Chapel Annex on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays, from now through November 6th. **If we happen to be out of the office when you stop by, please leave donations in the box on our doorstep labeled "Hungary." Please don't leave donations in other areas of the chapel.

Thanks for considering helping out our friends in Hungary! Each year they are so appreciative of our community and the support we are able to offer. It is huge encouragement to them.

This is a great opportunity to begin ushering in the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, by blessing Hungarian orphans. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Both groups continue to meet on Tuesdays in the North Chapel "blue" conference room.

End of Summer Worship Night

Next Tuesday, August 20th we are going to end our summer series with a combined (Vision and Salvage) worship night. This past summer we've been studying the Psalms, looking at different types of prayers and various prayer postures. We'd like to cap this series off with a night to practice all that we've learned.

Salvage will meet at its normal time, however, Vision will NOT meet at 3:00, but instead will meet at 7:00.

We'd like for the entire Protestant Youth of the Chapel program to come together in fellowship and worship. This is an opportunity for older and younger students to mutually encourage and teach one another.

Recap: Tuesday, August 20th - both Vision AND Salvage will meet at the North Chapel from 7:00-9:00 for an end of the summer celebration/worship night.

Snacks, smoothies and cafe drinks will be provided : )

The following week, Tuesday, August 27th we will return to our "normal" school year meeting times. Vision will meet from 3:15-5:00 and Salvage will meet from 7:00-8:45.

We are still in the process of rebuilding our email roster after a summer of moves and could use your help. If you know of new families, please pass this information along to them.

Pure Living in an XXX-Rated World Seminar

Bob Reehm, former Navy Officer and current leader of the Navigators at the Naval Postgraduate School, will be visiting Ramstein AB in April for sexual assault awareness month. He travels around the world speaking to a variety of audiences on the topic of pure living in an XXX-rated world. He addresses the issue of pornography and warns everyone its dangers. Todays statistics are staggering: the average age of exposure to porn is 10 years old, both males and females are ensnared by it.

Bob's goal is to glorify God and His Word, by providing a clear understanding of God's plan for pure living and relationships. He'll contrast that with the inhuman and degrading porn culture, and its violation of God's plan. Bob wants to give people a framework of understanding, so when (not if) they see porn, they will NOT accept the lies of the evil industry and become enslaved to it.

We recognize that this is a very heavy, serious and sensitive topic and therefore, we invite parents to attend this seminar with their student. This will give you an opportunity to engage the topic with your student, and to be able to explain/define anything that was misunderstood.

Bob will be presenting in between Vision and Salvage on April 16th, from 5:15-6:00 in the North Chapel Conference (Blue) Room. If you know of other families who are not connected with the PYOC, but would like to attend the seminar, please feel free to invite them.

If you have any questions regarding the presentation, contact us. Please note that we will be out of town the week prior to the seminar for the high school spring break retreat.

We look forward to seeing you there, and do highly encourage you and your student to attend.

PYOC Update

Hello PYOC Families,

We've decided to cancel Vision and Salvage today because of the bad road conditions and early school release.

Chapel policy states that if roads are red one hour prior to a chapel event, that event will be cancelled.Even if roads go to amber before Vision or Salvage today - we are still going to cancel. Once your student gets home, we don't want you to have to make an additional drive to the chapel and risk driving on bad roads. Please stay home, stay safe and enjoy a quality evening at home with your family!

In other PYOC News ...

VISION families - So long as the roads are clear, we'll have Castle Games this Saturday, the 16th at the Hohenecken Castle from 1:30-4:00. Have your student dress appropriately to run around and play games ... snow pants, gloves, hats, etc. We'll enjoy snowy finger darts and dodgeball at the Castle. Hohenecken is the town next to Vogelweh Family Housing.

SALVAGE families - if your student is planning on going on the Spring Break retreat, please register online at www.csmspringbreak.eventbrite.com. We are needing to get our number to Edelweiss, so if you know your student is going, please go ahead and register them. We're looking forward to a great retreat this year! Retreat dates are April 8-12 and cost is $250. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks for your involvement in PYOC!

Spring Break Update

Spring Break Retreat Update: For those of you who didn't make it to Salvage last night, we made some important Spring Break announcements.

Due to recent budget cuts, we were notified this past week that it is unfeasible to do a site visit to Croatia for our retreat and therefore it is impossible to gain force protection approval to go. Rather than cancel the event, we are moving the location to Edelweiss Resort in Garmisch. Holding the retreat on a base will guarantee us force protection approval.

We are excited that camp will go on!

Dates will flex a little, due to Edelweiss availability. We will leave on Monday and we'll come back on Friday evening.

This Friday the new registration site will be up and running. We will post links for the site on our Facebook page and this blog. And we will have more details for you next week at Salvage (cost, exact dates, etc.).

Yay for a 5 hour bus ride ... instead of a sleepless 16 hour bus ride : )

The camp program will be the same... our speaker and a ministry team from Portland, OR will still be leading the camp. The only thing that will change is free time options, which will be announced in the coming week. (Sorry, Garmisch doesn't offer snorkeling.) : )

Thanks for understanding!

Just a reminder that youth group is ON this Tuesday (even though there is no school due to Fasching). Both Vision and Salvage will still meet.

We are looking forward to week 4 of our Theology MythBuster series... this week we'll be looking at the Holy Spirit ... and I'm guessing there maybe a Star Wars clip or two : )

Hope you can join us!

Bowling on Tuesday

Hello PYOC families,

If you've had a chance to look through the new spring calendars that were handed out at youth group, you'll notice that this Tuesday is a special day! Due to a scheduling conflict at the chapel on Tuesday, we are going bowling. In all of the excitement of being back at youth group last week after the Christmas/New Year break, we forgot to make an announcement about bowling. We are sorry about that and hope that this doesn't catch you terribly off guard or throw you off. We recognize that families stay busy and we desire to keep you updated well in advance. Please encourage students to remind their friends at school on Monday of the bowling event.

Vision Students - walk to the chapel as usual after school on Tuesday, and we will shuttle you over to the bowling alley. Parents, please pick your student up at the bowling alley at 5:00.

Salvage Students - meet at the bowling alley at 7:00. Parents, please pick your student up at the bowling alley at 8:45.

Please bring $7 to cover the cost of 2 games and shoe rental(It's a little less than this, but carrying quarters for exact change all day isn't fun!).
Students can also bring extra $ for snacks/drinks. The bowling alley doesn't allow in outside food/drink.

And one last friendly reminder ... Wednesday Bible studies will resume this week. Middle schoolers meet from 3:30-5 and high schoolers meet from 6:30-8. Guys and girls meet separately. Both groups meet in the KMCC party room (by the play area).

Thank you for being a part of PYOC! We love ministering to your student(s) and we're thankful for you!!
