Annual Christmas Party

Hey Vision and Salvage students - our annual Christmas party is coming up next week, Tuesday, December 18th.

Step 1: Find an Ugly Sweater
In preparation... start going through your clothes (or your dad's closet!) in search of an ugly sweater!! Prizes will be given out for the tackiest, ugly sweater (we'll have 2 categories - a year round one, and a Christmas themed one).

Step 2: Find a White Elephant Gift
We'll also do a White Elephant Gift exchange. Your gift should be fun and something that people will want to steal. It cannot be alive, or previously alive. So, go through your room or ask your parents if they have something they no longer want. If you do purchase something, don't spend more than $5. Wrap your gift and bring it to youth group nextTuesday!

Step 3: Come to youth group next week!
If you'd like to bring your favorite Christmas goodie to share, that would be great!
^ Ugly Sweaters from last year's parties ...
can you beat those sweaters this year??

Vision Christmas Market outing

VISION

Just a reminder that tomorrow afternoon is our Christmas market outing. Students can walk over to the chapel after school and we'll head to the Ktown market. We'll return to the North Chapel at 8:00 for pick up. Students should bring EURO for dinner and any shopping they'd like to do. Students should dress warm!!

We are expecting a lot of snow tomorrow. Chapel policy states that if the road condition is red one hour prior to an event, that event is cancelled. If school lets out early tomorrow because of weather, we will not go to the market. If road conditions are good, we will go to the market. If you have any questions, please call.

We are looking forward to a fun evening enjoying the Christmas season!

HIS hunger games

Just a reminder, HIS hunger games are this weekend! On Saturday, September 8th at Pulaski Park from 1-5:30. This is going to be a GREAT time.

We've got dodgeballs, finger darts, random food items and crazy games in store for students... students will be divided into districts for an awesome afternoon of competitions. (Safety side note: Middle and high school students will be on separate teams and won't be competing against each other!)

This event is open to all middle and high school students and is a great opportunity for students to invite their friends who don't typically come to youth group, and introduce them to Vision and Salvage.

Students should bring a water bottle, we'll have drinks on hand for refills and dinner will be provided!

Parent's Meeting

Our annual parent's meeting is coming up! Join us on Tuesday, September 18th at 5:15 in the North Chapel Conference Room. We'll be meeting in between Vision and Salvage meeting times.

We'll be giving you information about this year's studies, events and retreats, discussing ways to get involved/volunteer ... and answering any questions you have! We'll also be handing out the annual parental permission form and gathering contact information to build our group roster to keep you informed throughout the year.

Looking forward to seeing you and meeting many of you! Light snacks will be provided : )

We're encouraging students to tell their parents about the meeting and it's on the calendar we've been passing out to students ... but please pass the word along as you see other parents to ensure everyone knows! THANKS!!

We're looking forward to a great year with your students. Thanks for your involvement!

Week of August 12th Update

There has been a change to this Saturday's event. Than what the last post stated.  This Saturday, both Salvage (High School) Boy and Girls are going to a Medieval Festival in Kaiserslautern.  We will be leaving from the Chapel at 1400.  Then we will be getting back at 2000.  There may be an entrance fee, so bring around five Euro for that, and also bring Euro for Food/Shopping.  If you have any questions like where it is located, or anything else, feel free to contact either Beth or Steven.
Can't wait to see y'all there.

AJ's Farewell

After ten years of youth ministry with military students in Germany, AJ and his family are moving home to Portland, Oregon. AJ is going to attend Multnomah Biblical Seminary to complete his Masters of Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry degrees, with the goal of becoming a college youth ministry and Bible professor.

Join us this Tuesday from 5-7 (in between Vision and Salvage), for a farewell bbq for AJ.

We'd like to send him off well and thank and honor him for his faithful service to our community. Both parents and students are invited to come out and say goodbye. Meat and drinks are being provided, feel free to bring a side dish, salad or dessert if you'd like.

Thanks!

Donations Needed!

Salvage Students are going to Hungary, July 14-22 on a mission trip. We're going to be helping with English and sports camps. Good Sports International, the organization we're serving is in need of the following donations:

- sports equipment (new or used) - baseball and American football are their primary sports - balls, cleats, bats, gloves, pads, athletic clothing, etc.
- winter clothing and warm shoes - the organization reaches out and supports refugee camps and orphanages in the area. Hungarian winters are cold and warm clothing/jackets are highly needed

You can drop off donations in the Youth Office on Tuesdays, or send them to youth group. We will be packing/loading our vehicles on Friday, July 13th and will leave for Hungary the following day.

THANKS!
